Ericsson Pakistan Exchange - Data Collection Project Ericsson Telecommunications had its exchanges installed all over the city. There were about 19 telephone exchanges, which generated a large amount of call data.

The customer required extensive analysis, and the data had to be collected, compiled and viewed in a manner, which made sense to an executive, not just the technical people.

They had to analyze various types of information:

• The busiest time of day
• Errors generated per hour
• Number of calls every hour
• Calls cancelled per hour
• Calls prematurely disconnected per hour

The data collected was in text format and not in any fixed format. The application developed collected the data, stored it in database tables and generated text and graphical reports. The main office collects data several times a day from all the exchanges through modem connectivity.
